Thank you for sharing your research at CBASS!Below you will find information about preparing your presentations. Please do not hesitate to contact us (use the "Contact Us" button below or email [email protected]) if you have any questions.
Good luck to everyone, and thank you again for your participation! Poster Presentations
The poster sessions will be held online on the CBASS Canvas page. You must have your poster in PDF format and have one presenter present to host the meeting throughout the entire session. Posters must be uploaded in PDF format or, for a digital poster, URL through the link sent to you accepting your abstract, or the button below by March 28th at 11:59PM. This will allow attendees time to view posters prior to the conference. *Note: It will be possible for registrants to download your poster PDF or view your URL, therefore you should keep this in mind as you decide what information/data to include in your poster. On the day of CBASS, log into your Zoom link on the CBASS Canvas page at least five minutes before the start of your session. Poster number assignments and times will be distributed via email and posted in the "Event Info" section of this website after the application deadline. Each poster will be judged by a group of volunteer judges consisting of faculty members, graduate students, and postdocs. We posted a blank judging form to this page from a previous CBASS, so you can see the general criteria judges will look at. When making judging assignments, we aim to avoid conflicts of interest. So, we will ensure that no faculty member judges his/her own student and no grad student or postdoc judges his/her own lab mates. Depending on your poster number, the judges will join Zoom sessions to judge their assigned posters at certain times. So, you need to remain on your Zoom call from 10 to 11am for odd-numbered posters and from 11 am to noon for even-numbered posters. Outside of those times, you may feel free to remain logged in to your Zoom session or bounce to other sessions to see the other presentations. We will announce the awards for the top 3 graduate and undergraduate posters in two separate categories (Cell., Molec., and Micro; Evo, Eco, Org., and Devo) at the end of CBASS (after the close of the talks, online). After CBASS, we will forward any feedback from judges to individual presenters. If you don't want to receive that feedback, please let us know.
The oral sessions will be held online on the CBASS Canvas page from 12:30 to 3:05 PM. There will be 2 sessions. The presentations will be in a “Lightning Talk” format with 5 minutes for the presentation, followed by 2 minutes for questions. There are no limits on the number of slides to use (though be careful of your time!), and we are not using automatic slide advancement. The only limitation is the time for your presentation. In planning your presentation, see the judging form attached below as a guide for your talk format.
You will be sharing your screen for oral presentations.
Each talk will be scored by 3 judges. We posted a blank judging form to this page from a previous CBASS, so you can see the general criteria judges will look at. When making judging assignments, we aim to avoid conflicts of interest. We will ensure that no faculty member judges his/her own student and no student or postdoc judges his/her own lab mates. We will announce the awards for the top 3 graduate and top 3 undergraduate talks, along with the poster awards, after the close of the talks session, (online).
After CBASS, we will forward any feedback from judges to individual presenters. If you don't want to receive that feedback, please let us know.
